About Us

Hey there,

Welcome to Next-Gen Games! For over 20 years, we’ve been an independently-owned friendly local game store based out of Los Angeles -- although our current location is at Pico and Hauser, you may remember us back from our days on Wilshire (near Wilshire and La Brea and, even further back, Wilshire and Highland). We’re the same friendly community of gamers as ever, specializing in trading cards, board games, tabletop games, and more. We also host store tournaments every day of the week -- click here for more info about our schedule.

We are LA’s only WPN Premium location for Magic: the Gathering, and we’ve also got a vibrant Pokémon scene for both players and collectors alike. We replenish our stock of cards through customer trades, so our selection is always changing. You can check out our current singles (and even buy ahead to pick-up in store!) through our TCGPlayer-powered half of the website here.

In addition to our card game scene, we run weekly Dungeons and Dragons games and monthly tournaments for Warhammer 40k and X-Wing. During the week, we have nights set aside for open play board gaming (with a library of hundreds of in-store demo games!), Legion, A Song of Ice and Fire, and Commander/EDH.

We welcome all players, both longtime gaming fans and new, from every race, gender, sexuality, and walk of life. Our weekly tournaments range anywhere from free learn-to-play and casual events to competitive events with prizes paid out to our top players.

If you're interested in chatting with our community before you stop by, check out our official Discord, wargaming group, tabletop gaming group, or Magic: The Gathering group.

If you've been itching for a place to play your favorite game in Mid-City LA -- or even dip your toe into tabletop for the first time! -- we've got a beautiful space packed to the brim with hobby supplies, friendly faces, and demo games to try before you buy. Next-Gen strives to offer all of our customers with the greatest service possible; we’re always happy to recommend games, or chat about the latest titles.

So what are you waiting for? Check out our online schedule of events (updated weekly) and come play with us!
